Northern Wilds

A mostly unsettled cold area wandered by bands of chaotic nomads. Stronger bands love to raid Rhen and frequently test the ability of the tower forces to keep them out. Large forces have never been successful for long but small raiding parties have led to every village within a few days ride of the wilds to be fortified to some extent against them. Every few generations a new leader rises up that organizes the nomads to more effective raids escalating the constant raids to true warfare. Currently only the very old remember the last time the nomads were a threat, leading to the inevitable split in Rhennish society where most people believe their power broken forever and a few expecting a massive army to be invading the capitol next week. Unlike the rest of the continent, humans have only a slim plurality of population in the north but are also not at all concerned about that, half breeds and exotic races are not uncommon and widely accepted.

Noteworthy groups:

Dawnstalker Clan - Mixed group of mostly humans and half-breeds, strongly allied with the Drow presence in the north, especially the Ghamerzeh family. Led by Phasirah and her consort Namusso.

Blessed Fist Clan, and Ice Spire Clan - Fiercely independent groups centered in the west and northeast regions respectively.

Crushanti clan - A primarily greenskin clan with extreme chaotic tendencies.

Mistsong Clan - A relatively peaceful group centered on the west coast. Sea Elves and Merfolk are the majority but they have a long list of minor clans with strong alliances.

Bay Pirates - Numerous groups including actual pirates forced away from populous areas and small (and not so small) mercenary bands. They are a constant pain for the forces at Eastwatch Tower and the Dutchy of Bakkarholt.
