nororin

Son of a wealthy merchant and an elven temple maiden/priestess attendant.

Lived mostly with his mother until he became uncomfortable with how he was being treated as a half elf in an elvish temple. Decided to try traveling with his father on the caravan circuit.

One day after an argument with his father while on the trail, he was scouting ahead so he could have some space and time to think things over. While he was scouting, the caravan came under attack. A few of the traders and guards he had become friends with were killed, his father survived, but because of the value of the Lost goods, and the death stipends needed, his father took a substantial loss. Disillusioned once again, he asked his father for his due pay and inheritance. His father, tired of arguing, bargained to pay him 20% of the inheritance, and a deed to a plot of land.

Nororin outfitted himself and struck out for his parcel. On the road, he encountered a band of brigands he believed to be just travelers. He aided them with his map and woodcraft before they revealed that they were bandits, because they couldn't afford the trade tariffs on their crops. Believing them to be reasonable he decided to join them.

A few months later, he lay betrayed, bleeding, battered, and stripped in a ditch. He was nursed back to health by a traveling Courtesan of Calistria. Finding many parallels with her teachings he found more spiritual reinforcement and decided to go into business for himself as a trapper.

He made a name for himself in the quality of the pelts he sold, and the skill he had in guiding groups through the forests.

Drinking one evening in a tavern after selling a particularly nice load of pelts, a courier gave him a letter from a local merchant…..
