 Originally the Duchy of Illenewar, this region was one of the last areas to be conquered by the third "First Great Khan" bringing all settled areas under control of the Khanate.  The Shining City of Illenewar holds legendary status in the history of the realms as a center of learning, craft, art, and philosophy.  How much of that is story and how much is history is irrelevant as this once great center of power is now a blackened ruin.  There is very little that can be done when faced with constant flights of dragons.
-None have learned what caused the unprecedented migration of so many dragons from across the sea but the Black Shore is now the kind of place adventurers go to find the most powerful foes to test themselves against and commoners tell stories about that are mostly fiction.  The Sunset Gate of Tum Zaramul which used to be a major trade route between the Dwarves and the Humans and Elves of Illenewar is virtually the only structure still standing.  Dwarven craftsmanship standing against even the strongest draconic assaults
